CISC President Honored by Italian Government

CISC Inc. President & CEO Francesco Isgro was honored with the title of Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia (Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy) by the Italian government at a covid-restricted official ceremony held on February 17 at the Embassy of Italy. Minister Plenipotentiary Catherine Flumiani, bestowed upon him the title, along with First Counselor Domenico Bellantone.

This distinction recognizes an Italian, or foreigner abroad, who has acquired special merit in preserving and promoting Italian “national prestige abroad.” The award cited Isgro’s long years of volunteer work for the Italian and Italian American community in the Washington DC area and beyond toward the promotion of Italian culture, including 14 years as executive editor of Voce Italiana, a former president of the Lido Civic Club and many years as chairman of its Scholarship Committee, as well as his current role as president of the Casa Italiana Sociocultural Center, which oversees the newly created Italian American Museum of Washington DC.
