Italian American Legacy Research and Writing Summer Grant

Writer: Casa Italiana Casa Italiana

The Robert A. Facchina Italian Legacy Research Grant Program offers a summer grant for a talented student with research, writing and journalism skills, and an interest in Italian and Italian American history and culture.

The selected college or graduate student will research and write about people of Italian heritage who have left an indelible mark on the city’s landscape, and those who are currently doing great things.

Together with a member of our staff, the student will ropose, research and write papers/articles for our Archives collection and our local Italian American paper Voce Italiana. Topics must contribute to the knowledge of the Italian American experience in the D.C. area.

The grant award is $5,000; requirements are to be completed this summer. Applicants must be enrolled in an academic institution located within 75 miles of Washington, D.C. or have a permanent residence within that area. Candidates must have a solid academic record, excellent communication skills, and an enthusiasm for our mission: to educate, celebrate and promote Italian and Italian American culture.

Application deadline: April 30, 2022
